Unity Park | Richmond, CA

$25.00

CSWST2 collaborated with the City of Richmond and a coalition of 17 nonprofit organizations and 57 community members to design and construct Unity Park — a 7.4-acre community park along the Richmond Greenway. The project transformed a vacant corridor into an active and inclusive public space that celebrates art, nature, and local culture.

The park features multiple trails, universally accessible play areas, basketball courts, community gardens, an edible forest, and a plaza designed for events and a future farmers market. Sustainable design elements include green infrastructure for stormwater treatment, drought-tolerant landscaping, and a cost-efficient shade structure made of recyclable steel and reclaimed redwood.

CSWST2 provided civil engineering, landscape architecture, and community design support throughout the planning and construction process. The result is a park shaped by its residents — a model for community-led design and stewardship that continues to thrive through local partnerships and volunteer maintenance.
