As a Principal at CSWST2, Richard Souza leads the firm’s Point Richmond office and brings deep expertise in utility design and wastewater infrastructure. A graduate of the University of California, Davis, Rich began his career in construction management before joining CSWST2, where he developed his technical foundation under the mentorship of one of the firm’s founders, Diet Stroeh.

Over the years, Rich has built a reputation as a thought leader in wastewater facilities and utility systems, succeeding Diet as CSWST2’s go-to expert in this area. His favorite projects involve complex utility design and coordination for street enhancements throughout the Bay Area, and he is also widely recognized for his expertise in the rehabilitation of pump and lift stations.

Outside of work, Rich enjoys staying active and exploring the outdoors. Once an avid pick-up Ultimate Frisbee player and swimmer, he now looks forward to runs through his favorite local routes. During the 2020 shelter-in-place, he discovered a passion for road biking and enjoys recreational rides on California’s diverse and scenic trails and roadways.
