COMMERCIAL AND RETAIL
30 Liberty Ship Way - Sausalito, California.

This landmark building's 48 foot clearance under the roof trusses provided ample room to construct a three story building-within-a-building, a response to Sausalito's present day height restrictions which allows remodeling but not new construction to that height. The new building consists of a pile supported steel-framed structure. The existing wood structure was attached to the new steel framing for lateral and vertical support. The existing pile caps were supported on four sides by new grade beam/pile caps. Piles were driven 55 feet to refusal through fill and bay mud deposits. Massive concrete below-grade engine test-mounts were supported by new piles rather than being removed and exposing the bay mud.
