Oakmont Senior Living - Shoreline, Washington.
This three story, wood and steel framed 97,000 sq. ft. facility offers the senior community comfortable living along with amenities typical of Oakmont Assisted Living communities. These include a movie theater, dining facilities, and a large centrally located courtyard. The project’s location on the site of a previous structure posed several challenges. We needed to design around existing concrete piers as well as a large existing water vault. Innovative use of cantilevered concrete floor beams was used to work around the existing piers. Additionally, the structural design utilized a large quantity of various steel shapes left over from past Oakmont projects, resulting in a significant cost savings.
