As President of CSW/Stuber-Stroeh, Al Cornwell is responsible for setting the direction of the firm’s growth and development while also providing over-all project administration and technical review of individual projects. With nearly 30 years of professional experience, he has designed, secured entitlements for, and managed construction of major commercial, residential, educational, institutional, and military base reuse projects. Al is also a licensed General Contractor in the State of California, with five years of experience in supervising and estimating construction projects. This practical combination of design and construction perspectives provides him with a unique and valuable insight into civil engineering projects. Al is a graduate of Stanford University where he earned a B.S. and M.S. degree in Civil Engineering. He is a member of the Consulting Engineers and Land Surveyors of California (CELSOC).

Dietrich Stroeh

J. Dietrich “Diet” Stroeh is one of the founding partners of CSW/Stuber-Stroeh Engineering Group, Inc. Diet’s primary focus is on the planning, design and management of water and sanitary sewer distribution systems, including on-site waste disposal systems. He is also experienced in hydrology, hydraulics design, small dam design, contract negotiations, construction management, and serves as an expert witness in these areas. His experience and ability to work closely with local and regional agencies allows him to provide creative and innovative design solutions to waste water disposal challenges. He is thoroughly familiar with the engineering, institutional, economic, planning and environmental aspects of water resource management.
The majority of Diet’s early professional expertise comes from working for Marin Municipal Water District (MMWD) for 20 years, finishing the last 6 years of his career there as General Manager. Under his management, MMWD developed a major new in-County water supply and implemented a comprehensive water management plan, including conservation education. Diet was also instrumental in achieving a record in County-wide water conservation during the 1976-1977 drought. His experiences during that time are the basis of a recently published book, The Man Who Made it Rain by Michael McCarthy.
Diet is a graduate of the University of Nevada and received a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering. He is active in many community and professional organizations and currently serves as a Director of the Golden Gate Bridge Highway and Transportation District.

Dennis Rinehart

Dennis Rinehart serves as the Managing Principal of our Novato office. He brings more than 30 years of civil engineering design and management experience to his role with projects that include drainage systems, sanitary sewer systems, water delivery systems and roadway design. Dennis also possesses the technical expertise required to direct surveying operations. His broad range of skills and depth of experience have contributed significantly to our completion of many successful projects for institutional, commercial, industrial and residential clients. Dennis is a graduate of the University of California, Davis, where he earned a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and Consulting Engineers and Land Surveyors of California (CELSOC) and is a former Chairman and member of the Technical Advisory Panel for the Napa River Flood Protection Project. Dennis is licensed in California to practice both civil engineering and land surveying.

Wayne Leach

Wayne Leach serves as Managing Principal of our Petaluma office where he is responsible for directing a staff of engineers, planners, landscape architects and various subconsultants on a wide range of projects. He has exceptional planning and organizational skills, communicates effectively, and has a strong background in all aspects of civil engineering. Wayne’s experience includes infrastructure, road design, hydrology and hydraulic design, agency processing and entitlements, boundary resolution and title research, preparation of specifications and bid documents, construction management and coordination. He has been instrumental in processing a variety of projects through the local and state level, including Caltrans encroachment permits. Wayne holds a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo, and serves as State Director for the Consulting Engineers & Land Surveyors of California (CELSOC), serving formerly as President of the Marin County Chapter. He is a Registered Civil Engineer and Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control.

Gregg Grubin

Gregg Grubin has more than 22 years of experience working in the fields of consulting civil and structural engineering. He has worked on a wide range of major commercial, industrial, and municipal projects throughout Northern California. Gregg’s experience includes the design of concrete, steel, masonry, and timber buildings and structures, and includes static, dynamic, linear, and non-linear design of new structures. He has also worked on the analysis of existing structures for seismic studies and retrofit projects, including non-linear “push-over” analysis and techniques. Gregg holds a B.S. degree in Architectural Engineering and M.S. degree in Structural Engineering from the University of Colorado in Boulder. He is a member of the American Institute of Steel Construction.

Don Curry
Don Curry is a Senior Civil Designer with more than 37 years of experience in the design and construction of a wide variety of wet utilities projects for public and private clients. His experience features the design of systems that include potable and non-potable water, storm water drainage systems, pumping stations, storage tanks and wastewater collection facilities. This includes projects for clients such as local municipalities and utilities districts, large and small residential subdivisions, primary and higher educational campuses, commercial sites of all sizes, and numerous cemeteries throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. Prior to joining our firm in 1990, Don worked for more than 20 years for the Marin Municipal Water District completing designs for access roads, pipelines, pumping facilities, storage tanks and water distribution systems. Don studied civil engineering at the College of Marin. He is a member of the American Water Works Association, Bay Area Water Works Association, and the Construction Specifications Institute.
