As President of CSW|Stuber-Stroeh Engineering Group, Inc., Al Cornwell is responsible for setting the direction of the firm’s growth and development while also providing over-all project administration and technical review of individual projects. With more than 30 years of professional experience, he has designed, secured entitlements for, and managed construction of major commercial, residential, educational, institutional, and military base reuse projects. Al is also a licensed General Contractor in the State of California, with many years of experience in supervising and estimating construction projects. This practical combination of design and construction perspectives provides him with a unique and valuable insight into civil engineering projects. Al is a graduate of Stanford University and Claremont McKenna College, where he earned a B.S. and M.S. degree in Civil Engineering and a B.A. in Management Engineering.

J. Dietrich “Diet” Stroeh is one of the founding partners of CSW|Stuber-Stroeh Engineering Group, Inc. Diet’s primary focus is on the planning, design and management of water and sanitary sewer distribution systems, including on-site waste disposal systems. He is also experienced in hydrology, hydraulics design, small dam design, contract negotiations, construction management, and serves as an expert witness in these areas. His experience and ability to work closely with local and regional agencies allows him to provide creative and innovative design solutions to waste water disposal challenges. He is thoroughly familiar with the engineering, institutional, economic, planning and environmental aspects of water resource management.
The majority of Diet’s early professional expertise comes from working for Marin Municipal Water District (MMWD) for 20 years, finishing the last 6 years of his career there as General Manager. Under his management, MMWD developed a major new in-County water supply and implemented a comprehensive water management plan, including conservation education. Diet was also instrumental in achieving a record in County-wide water conservation during the 1976-1977 drought. His experiences during that time are the basis of a recently published book, The Man Who Made it Rain by Michael McCarthy.
Diet is a graduate of the University of Nevada and received a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering. He is active in many community and professional organizations and currently serves as a Director of the Golden Gate Bridge Highway and Transportation District.

Jim Grossi is a Principal at CSW|Stuber-Stroeh Engineering Group, Inc. With more than 30 years of civil engineering and operations experience, Jim has managed and designed many prominent projects in Northern California for public, educational, institutional and private clients. Jim’s expertise includes planning, entitlement and permit processing, regulatory approvals, financing, engineering design and construction management. He has also performed preliminary planning, feasibility analysis and final design to construction of infrastructure for residential, industrial and commercial projects. Jim is a graduate of College of Marin and earned his B.S. in Civil Engineering from University of California Davis.

Wayne Leach serves as COO and Civil Division Manager. He is responsible for directing a staff of engineers and designers on a wide range of projects. He has exceptional planning and organizational skills, communicates effectively, and has a strong background in all aspects of civil engineering. Wayne’s experience includes infrastructure, road design, hydrology and hydraulic design, agency processing and entitlements, boundary resolution and title research, preparation of specifications and bid documents, construction management and coordination. He has been instrumental in processing a variety of projects through the local and state level, including Caltrans encroachment permits. Wayne holds a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo, and served as State Director for the Consulting Engineers & Land Surveyors of California (CELSOC) and President of the Marin County Chapter. He is a Registered Civil Engineer and Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control.
Don Curry is a Senior Civil Designer with more than 37 years of experience in the design and construction of a wide variety of wet utilities projects for public and private clients. His experience features the design of systems that include potable and non-potable water, storm water drainage systems, pumping stations, storage tanks and wastewater collection facilities. This includes projects for clients such as local municipalities and utilities districts, large and small residential subdivisions, primary and higher educational campuses, commercial sites of all sizes, and numerous cemeteries throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. Prior to joining our firm in 1990, Don worked for more than 20 years for the Marin Municipal Water District completing designs for access roads, pipelines, pumping facilities, storage tanks and water distribution systems. Don studied civil engineering at the College of Marin. He is a member of the American Water Works Association, Bay Area Water Works Association, and the Construction Specifications Institute.

Richard Souza is a Senior Project Manager at CSW|ST2 and has 19 years professional engineering experience including ten years of managing projects for both public agencies and private developers. Rich has managed many projects that involved coordination with multiple stakeholders, gaining approvals from multiple agencies and forming consensus from multiple groups of interest. His experience includes hospital campus and MOB design, roadway and parking lot design, multi-use trails design, grading and drainage design, erosion control design, construction management and design team coordination. Rich serves as our office’s advocate for Sustainable Design and Business Practices and was instrumental in obtaining our firm’s designation as a Certified Green Business in the County of Marin.

Kerry is a Senior Project Manager at CSW|ST2 with over 15 years of civil engineering design and project management experience. Kerry’s experience includes managing the civil engineering design of several projects for UCSF’s Mission Bay Campus including the new Medical Center complex at UCSF Mission Bay, a large multi-phased development program consisting of a new hospital, medical research facilities, and miles of roadways and utility improvements. Kerry has also lead the civil engineering design several other exciting projects including the new Twitter Building in San Francisco, several projects for BioMarin, UC Riverside, Kaiser, and Evergreen Community College among others. His expertise includes project management, grading and drainage design, hydrology analysis, utility design, wastewater systems design, coordination with many local and State agencies and construction administration, and exceptional client service. Kerry is a graduate of University of California Davis where he earned a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering.

Kirk Bovitz is a Project Manager with more than 20 years of experience as a civil engineer and has been with CSW|ST2 for the past 19 years. Kirk has many years of experience working with California Community Colleges providing civil engineering planning, design and construction support services. He has a great deal of experience with DSA approved projects and has designed many infrastructure projects including water systems, storm drainage systems, wastewater systems, and a wide range of project experience that includes design and preparation of grading, drainage, and general utility plans. His expertise includes preparation of hydraulic and hydrology reports, stormwater management plans, and stormwater pollution prevention plans. In addition he has served as our go-to Project Manager for the InSite/GIS program and has developed a thorough understanding of how to deliver and maintain this program.

Kristine has 20 years of engineering design, project management, construction administration and construction site storm water pollution management experience. Her experience includes the preparation of Storm Water Pollution Prevention Programs (SWPPP’s) and erosion and sediment control plans and construction site observation for conformance to local and state requirements. The type of projects have ranged from pavement and infrastructure repair and rehabilitation to single family residence construction, small subdivision construction, creek projects, commercial, municipal and institutional projects and geothermal field installation. Additionally, she has experience in hydrology and the design and construction of low impact development measures to protect storm water as well as general grading, drainage and utility infrastructure to support development.

Julia is a project manager at CSW|ST2 with 10 years of engineering design and project management experience. Julia is proficient in AutoCAD, Hydraflow Storm Sewer, XPSWMM, HEC-RAS and several other design software programs. She works on a wide variety of projects and her duties include hydrology and hydraulic analysis, stormwater quality and quantity control, erosion and sediment control, water systems design, sewer systems design, grading and drainage design and sustainable design. Julia is a registered Civil Engineer, a Qualified Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) Developer (QSD/QSP), and a LEED Accredited Professional currently working on several LEED projects.
Jim serves as Director of Business Development for CSW|ST2 and brings more than 30 years of experience in a marketing and business development role with firms specializing in environmental, civil, and structural engineering. Mr. Keller’s expertise includes project management of environmental and civil engineering projects and a wide range of business development and marketing activities. He has been involved with the InSite mapping program from the initial phases and has been a key contributor to its gaining early acceptance. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing from St. Edwards University in Austin, Texas.
Mariesa is an innovative and accomplished Accounting Manager with over twelve years in project accounting, project reporting and analysis. She has extensive experience in a variety of industries including architecture, engineering, planning and construction. Through her leadership abilities, Mariesa has been able to assist CSW|ST2 to meet and exceed overall business objectives. Her communication skills, problem-solving abilities and attention to clients’ needs has helped to retain key clients and also to acquire new ones. Mariesa is always available to our clients who have project accounting needs.
